Location. The 1805 Cameron Estate Inn and Restaurant occupies a secluded wooded setting in Mount Joy, Penn. The city's downtown, which offers shops, restaurants, churches and bookstores on Main Street, is approximately three miles from the bed and breakfast. The Nissley Vineyard and Winery Estate, located approximately five miles from the inn, features a summer concert series. Features. This historic inn is set on 15 acres of lawns, formal rose gardens, wooded land and babbling streams. The inn was purchased and renovated in 1872, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mansion's 80 seat restaurant serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday, featuring gourmet entrees including honey lavender game hen, roasted duckling with orange Irish whiskey sauce, and grilled turkey chop. Complimentary fixed menu breakfasts are served daily in the sun porch dining room. Conference facilities are available for business retreats, and the house is equipped with complimentary wireless Internet access. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Guestrooms. The 1805 Cameron Estate Inn and Restaurant offers 18 guestrooms, many with wood burning fireplaces. Guestrooms are decorated to reflect the estate's 200 year heritage with fine European antiques. All accommodations include private bathrooms and telephones. Two rooms offer jetted tubs. The Simon Cameron Room features a 10 piece Italian bedroom suit dating from the 1860s. The Cameo Room, carved out of intricate attic space, showcases an antique oval window with views of the woods and stream. The Dormer Room looks out over a church and the estate's front lawns through deep walled dormer windows.
Expert Tip. The mansion was built in 1805 by Dr. John Watson, who was the great grandfather of U.S. President William McKinley.
